Memorials to the Great Patriotic War; Communist propaganda or just signs on a highway – Soviet monuments can be found absolutely everywhere. What Ukrainian road trip would be complete without someone randomly screaming “Stop the car! Stop! Stop! Stop!’ because they have seen a Soviet war memorial on an otherwise empty stretch of highway. Also, they are seldom the same. Even the ubiquitous roadside soldier comes in different poses, and always in a slightly different metallic hue.
